Gund


Gund was founded by Adolf Gund in 1898 as a small toy and novelty company. In 1910 the business was incorporated taking the name of Gund Manufacturing Company and moved to New York in 1906, when he added teddy bears to his manufactured product range.

In 1909 he employed a Russian immigrant named Jacob Swidem. After a period of time and training by Adolf Gund, Jacob Swidem became the cutter and pattern designer for the teddy bear range.

In 1925 Adolf Gund retired and sold the business to Jacob Swidem and his two brothers and the Gund name remained in the Swidem family and their desendants until 2008 when the Company was sold to Enesco. The Company is now a Candadian owned manufacturing Company.

The Gund range of products are well known and respected throughout the world for their soft and cuddly bears and animals.. An excellent product and popular with all ages.
